WILLIAM HOPKINS MORRIS (1827-1900). American Inventor & Union Brigadier General. He invented the repeating carbine rifle (1859) patented in 1860. Brigadier General in 1862. Fought at American Civil War Battles of Fair Oaks, Bristol Wilderness, and wounded at Spotsylvania.

ALS in bright blue ink on Custom House, New York, Surveyor’s Office lined letterhead dated October 31, 1881 to “My dear General Carr, your favor recd. You can count on your old Brigadier at all times. Yours faithfully, Wm. H. Morris”. “Major General J. B. Carr”. The letters “O.K.” have been written over the bottom portion of the letter in blue colored pencil. $100.00
