WENDELL PHILLIPS (1811-1884). American abolitionist, exceptional orator, debater, lawyer & writer. He was a Reformer who fought for women’s rights, Universal suffrage, Temperance & the Labor Movement.
Autograph Letter Signed, in pencil on folded lettersheet, postmarked: BOSTON LLYCEUM BUREAU HEDPATH & FALL, Oct 9, 1871, Phillips has written: “Dear friend Yours recd. about MishLecturing Impossible- Can’t do it Yours W. Phillips.”
Phillips has written his name, adding “Boston, Mass. Oct. ’71″ in black ink as a return address on the verso of the lettersheet. So actually, there are two Wendell Phillips signatures!
