At the age of 28 in 1930 he was the only player to achieve golfs GRAND SLAM by winning the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Open, British Amateur, British Open. Along with Alister McKenzie, he designed the Atlanta National Golf Course and established the prestigious National Tournament, 1934. In 1948 Jones suffered a crippling spinal cord injury which sadly inhibited his golf game.
