ROBERT T. JONES, Jr. “Bobby Jones,” (1902-1971). Legendary American golfer. One of the most idolized sports heroes of the 1920′s and arguably the GREATEST GOLFER of all time! Jones won 13 major championships in an eight-year period, including the U.S. Open (1923, 1926, 1929, 1930), the British Open (1926, 1927, 1930) and the U.S. Amateur championship (1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930). He retained his amateur status throughout and NEVER played golf for money! He retired from tournament golf in 1930, after winning the Grand Slam of golf (the Open & Amateur tournaments in both the U.S. and Great Britain) at the age of 28 to practice law. Along with Alister McKenzie he designed the Augusta National Golf Course and founded the Masters there in 1934.
