JOHN BARRYMORE (1882-1942), American Stage and Film Actor in the silent and sound movie eras. Born to the illustrious theatrical family whose parents were Maurice Barrymore and Georgiana Drew, and brother, Lionel, and sister, Ethel. His stage portrayals of Hamlet and Richard III in 1920 were a huge success. There were 101 performances of Hamlet and in 1925 the show went to London.
