Jeanette MacDonald (1903-1965). Stage career began in 1917. Most noted for roles with Nelson Eddy. MacDonald’s first starring role was in Yes, Yes, Yvette in 1927. She appeared with Nelson Eddy in such films as Naughty Marietta (1935), Rose Marie (1936), Sweethearts (1938) and New Moon (1942). She had a brief operatic career in 1943 and appeared with Ezio Pinza in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in Montreal. Her other operatic role was as ‘Marguerite’ in Faust.
