Franz Liszt
Hungarian Pianist, Conductor & Composer
Autograph Letter Signed with CDV
FERENCZ (FRANZ) LISZT (1811-1886). Hungarian pianist, conductor & composer. He was known primarily for his 20 Hungarian Rhapsodies & as one of the first piano virtuosos. He revolutionized piano keyboard technique & became idolized as a concert pianist. His first public appearance was at the age of 9 years! He composed over 1300 works, including his Piano Sonata in B Minor and his highly programmatic music including 13 symphonic poems (a form he invented) and Faust (1854). Quoted as being “the world’s most famed pianist”, he was embraced by Beethoven at 12 after playing on the Master’s piano. He is fondly remembered for giving lessons FREE to a coterie of young musicians.
Autograph Letter Signed & CDV, on the verso of Liszt’s calling card (4 5/8″ x 2 7/8″), which is in excellent condition, is an ALS signed. Included with this calling card is an original carte de visite of Liszt as a young man. The calling card was photocopied to be included in the image collage. It is actually the same size as the ALS. These two items are a wonderful combination of the pianist, and will be very impressive matted and framed. They are a marvelous combination. $1,750.00
