ELIPHALET REMINGTON ( 1828-1924). With his two brothers & father formed the firm of E. Remington and Sons. They manufactured small arms for the United States government during the Civil War and WWI &II. Remington Arms Co. Inc. is the largest U.S. producer of rifles & the oldest arms firm in the US. Remington Arms later manufactured velocipedes (early bicycles), burglar alarms, gasoline-powered engines, and typewriters.

Signed Check, with Handsome Vignette of a blacksmith at his anvil at left, Cashier of Ilion Bank Check made out & signed in black fountain pen exhibiting exquisite penmanship in the hand of, and signed: “E. Remington & Sons”, 7″ x 2 3/8″. Ilion, New York. Aug. 11 1854. The check, Numbered 294, is made out for $60.00 & is Cut cancelled as ALL checks of that period were (no evidence of this unless one wiggles the [paper] check).
