ADOLF GALLAND (1912-1996). General Galland began WWII as a Lieutenant and Squadron Commander in a bi-plane. He ended the war as a Lieutenant General. At 27 years old, he was the youngest General of the Luftwaffe and became a protege of Hermann Goering, although not always obeying Herr Goering! General Galland was one of Germany’s most well known fighter aces credited with 104 kills. He preferred to fly the BF109. As General of the Fighters in 1945, he commanded the world’s first jet fighter wing, which was equipped with the Messerschmitt ME-262.

German WWII Aces

ERICH HARTMANN (1922-1993). German Fighter Pilot. World’s Top Scoring Greatest Ace of WWII with 352 victories. The Germans labeled him “The Blonde Knight of Germany” and the Russians “The Black Devil of Ukraine”. Erich’s mother, a pilot, taught him to fly at 14 years old.
